There was George Orwell's notebook with his supplementary notes on Newspeak and the Two Minutes Hate. It was quite the moment when I saw that as 1984 is a dystopian bible for me. I'm tempted to pick up a copy of the book of the exhibition next time I go to London but I know the bank manager will be upset at me for spending yet another £15 I don't own. Then, I guess I could always buy it out of poker winnings.

I know very little about Burma, as I said. Hopefully within twelve months I'll be a self-educated expert! Have you ever visited there? I know nothing about the 'Boycott Lonely Planet' movement but I'll look it up, it should be a good starting point!

Sushi is awesome - perhaps you could get Tammy onto the chicken or veg sushi? It's not all sashimi, after all...Kris Holthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17496824392835614891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3660751614871769034.post-65223871553341191072011-07-12T01:15:50.591+01:002011-07-12T01:15:50.591+01:00A rather eclectic mix of messages in this post Kri...A rather eclectic mix of messages in this post Kris!
Start from the beginning. Pretty much the only Sci Fi series I've ever really enjoyed was the Red Mars trilogy - highly recommened.
Burma is also a fascinating country, and I remember the "Boycott Lonely Planet" movement when they produced their first guidebook to the country, as people were afraid of legitimising the junta.
And finally, I agree wholeheartedly about sushi - shame my wife hates fish!signolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12834608549510908602noreply@blogger.com
